Best billboards depicted by a blue billboard with a gold trophy in front of it

With the year wrapping up, we at Alluvit Media wanted to take the time to reminisce on some of our favorite billboard campaigns of 2024.

Successful billboard advertising is a team effort—made possible through the collaboration of advertisers, media coordinators, account executives, billboard operators, graphic designers, and others. Despite all the moving parts, our years of experience have enabled us to streamline the process from start to finish.

Interested in joining our hall of fame next year? Find billboards in your area and let’s launch something great.

Without further ado, here are Alluvit Media’s best billboards of 2024 (in our humble, non-biased opinion).

1. Sell the Pirates

When we received this proposal request, we knew we were in for something good. Zach, a self-proclaimed “die hard Pirates fan” along with other “Irate Pirates Fans” said enough is enough when their favorite baseball team was on a steep, continuous decline following what is seen by many as mismanagement. Zach and others galvanized fans from all over, raising over $30k as of December 2024. This crowd-funded campaign occupied four static boards in and around Pittsburgh, PA. You can learn more on the group’s GoFundMe.

2. Key West TSA (and guest)

Technically this campaign went live at the tail-end of 2023, but Key West International Airport chose to renew all eight bus shelter ads into 2024. We know…it’s not a billboard, but outdoor media encompasses much more to include other placements like street furniture. Most of all, how could we not highlight this campaign with the special guest appearance in the above proof of performance photo?? Hiring/recruitment is one of the most common campaign purposes we see, but this one really sits at the top of the pecking order for us.

3. PSA from the Illinois Natural History Survey

Billboards are possibly the most effective way to amplify a public service announcement (PSA). We worked with the Illinois Natural History Survey to help them launch two static billboards in the Chicago-area. The campaign was promoting their Transport Zero initiative to fight the spread of invasive species. What do we love most about this ad? Its large bold font combined with the URL and eye-catching imagery makes this an especially attention-grabbing message. They also ran this campaign for twelve weeks, maximizing its reach while staying in line with their budget.

4. Mental Wellness Campaign for Anoka County

When a message really resonates with us, it makes the work that much more rewarding. This Mental Wellness Campaign billboard campaign aims to remove the stigma from mental health issues while encouraging people to seek the help they deserve. The campaign launched on a three-month contract in Coon Rapids — ensuring maximum exposure along this Minnesota State Highway. Here, less is more. The bold yellow type against the light rays is both eye-catching and pleasant to look at.

5. Armored Fresh Takes Times Square

This is another billboard campaign that went live at the end of 2023, but vegan cheese brand Armored Fresh signed for a year-and-a-half campaign in the heart of Times Square. All throughout 2024, tourists and New Yorkers alike were able to bask in this ad’s mouth-watering glory. There’s also been a cycle of different creatives during the campaign, giving the brand the opportunity to try out different messaging and visuals. We love everything about this campaign from the larger-than-life food to the catchy messaging and incredible placement.
